One for the Clowns

Jake and I have a new game. It is my latest attempt to channel his endless kinetic energy on the weekends when it's cold outside. We do a clown routine that consists of up to 8 "acts," which are really Jake doing funny things for me while I watch and laugh in the living room. He loved this idea that first time we did it (Act One consists of him walking and then falling dramatically while wearing my big heavy clogs, later acts include piano playing, animal noises, etc.) It's his first taste of formal performance as a means to be the center of attention and he seems to revel in it.

Well, as a result we've been talking about clowns a lot and Jake said he wanted to get some face paint. The other day Mike brought some back when Gram was here playing and the two of them went to town. So cute!

Jake was quite thorough. At bathtime, Mike found face paint on the back of his neck, in his bellybutton and in the small of his back!

This weekend Jake and I went yard-saling in our neighborhood and at the very first house we stopped at, what did we find? A multi-colored clown WIG! He was beside himself and we got its former owner to give it to us for 35 cents. Score one for the clowns!
